Brett Favre Unofficially Retires

Rumors are spreading like wild fire and the latest rumor to come out of the NFL is that Brett Favre has reportedly informed the Minnesota Vikings that he will not return next season and that he is going to retire from the NFL. I almost feel redundant making another Brett Favre retirement joke, but this time I think it is true. However, if Brett Favre does un-retire again, I will shoot myself.

Brett Favre’s Replacement

I’m sure Aaron Rodgers and Tarvaris Jackson have created a support group by now, and they both own a dartboard with Brett Favre’s face on it. Let’s put ourselves in Tarvaris Jackson’s cleats for a moment. You’ve been told you are going to start and lead a great team this upcoming NFL season. A team that if it wasn’t for a botched field goal, would have made the Super Bowl last year. So you go on to tell your family and friends of this great opportunity, but then it gets taken away from you. Then you find out that it might be given back to you, and then you sit around waiting for an official press conference.

Now that I am out of Tarvaris Jackson’s shoes, I don’t feel bad for him because he is getting paid millions to play football. Currently the Minnesota Vikings are favored at 12/1 betting odds to win the Super Bowl, and 6/1 betting odds to win the NFC Conference. These betting odds are reflective of a scenario where Favre is retired.
