Gerald McCoy Signs With Bucs

On the first day of training camp the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed their 1st round draft pick, Gerald McCoy to a 5 year contract. If big expensive contracts disgust you, now’s the time to stop reading.

Without once having step foot on a NFL football field, the Bucs signed McCoy to a 5 year contract worth $63.42 Million. That’s a over $200,000 for every pound McCoy weighs (295 lbs). McCoy is a Defensive Tackle who was signed to hopefully fill the void that Warren Sapp left in the Bucs defensive line from a few years ago.

The Bucs are expecting big things from their rookie and are hoping that McCoy is the missing piece to stopping their opponents running game. Although to most of us $6.6 Million is a lot of money, but to put things is perspective, Ray Oswalt, a pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies, is making about $30 Million a season playing baseball and I’m sure many of you haven’t even heard of him before.

2010 Denver Broncos Betting Odds

Currently the Denver Broncos are predicted at 50/1 betting odds to win Super Bowl XLV and the Broncos are sitting at 25/1 betting odds to win the AFC conference. It is tradition amongst NFL rookies to carry the pads of veteran players after practice; however when Roy Williams asked Dez Bryant to carry his pads after yesterday’s Cowboys practice, Bryant said “No”. I might have been more understanding if Bryant said, “no thank you”, but he plain out said “No”.

Although Dez Bryant has some growing up to do, I think the Dallas Cowboys will be just fine this upcoming NFL betting season. NFL Possibly Moving to an 18 Game Schedule

I couldn’t find any pictures to represent the new proposed NFL 18 schedule, so instead I figured I would treat you guys to a picture of the Miami Dolphins’ cheerleaders. I for one welcome the extended season proposal which means that pre-season games will turn into regular season games that actually mean something and will be worth watching. Rumors are speculating that Brett Favre will not return to the NFL this upcoming season, and that Tarvaris Jackson will be leading the Minnesota Vikings offence. When asked what his NFL predictions would be for the Dallas Cowboys. Emmitt Smith predicted that the Dallas Cowboys would go 7-6 and miss the playoffs last season, which obviously did not happen. Last year’s NFL predictions by Emmitt Smith pissed off a lot of current players on the Dallas Cowboys roster who proved him wrong and made the playoffs, but they still did not make it far.

Although Owens blames his contract disputes on NFL owners thinking he is a bad apple, inside rumors speculate that Owens is unsigned because he had a horrible season last year with only 5 touchdowns and that he is asking for way too much money. My NFL prediction for Terrell Owens is that no playoff bound team is going to sign him before the start of the season and that he needs to stick to his reality TV show from now on to make his living.

Golden Boy Tom Brady News

At one point Tom Brady was being heralded as the best NFL quarterback currently and potential all-time best NFL quarterback, but with one freak injury suffered at the start of the NFL season last year that cost him the whole season, many have forgotten about Brady.

Tom Brady Contract Dispute

One group of people who have not forgotten about Tom Brady include his agent and the New England Patriots organization who are in the processing of offering Tom Brady a contract extension as Brady is in the last year of his contract. Although previously Brady had accepted a discount in his last contract because he wanted the team to stay together, now rumors are being speculated he is going after the highest bid. Further to that, NFL insiders are also suggesting that Tom Brady may be a hold out if the Patriots cannot sign him before the start of the NFL season.

Ray Rice Frustrated With the NFL

Rice, who rushed for 1,339 yards last NFL season, was named to the NFL Pro Bowl this offseason. However even with the Pro Bowl selection, Rice still feels that he is underated. Other than having your jersey retired while you are still an active player in the NFL, I’m not sure what more credit Rice is looking for.

Baltimore Ravens Predictions

Currently the Baltimore Ravens are predicted at 12/1 betting odds to win Super Bowl XLV. Betting lines on the Baltimore Ravens winning the AFC are currently sitting at 7/1. NFL betting odds on the Ravens winning the AFC North are currently at -110 which is pretty good considering how tough their roster is with Ray Lewis, Ray Rice and Joe Flacco. Jamarcus Russell Arrested

The facial expression of Jamarcus Russell in his mug shot picture to the left says it all, “I once had a $36 million contract but decided to throw it all away on getting high off of cough syrup.”

Earlier this week Jamarcus Russell, former #1 draft pick of the Oakland Raiders but now released from their roster, was arrested for possession of illegal drugs. The drug is question was codeine syrup which is also referred to as “purple drank” by rappers. California police say they had been investigating the fallen star for the last two months.

With things going from bad to worse for Jamarcus Russell, one has to question Al Davis, and the rest of the Oakland Raiders organization. Why is the Oakland Raiders franchise such a hotbed for badass football players? Is there something about Black and Silver that make players rowdy?
This season the Oakland Raiders have brought in Jason Campbell who is known for being one of the “clean good guys” in the NFL. How long before he too is corrupted? New Orleans Saints (9/1) betting odds: Every NFL season the team that one the previous season’s Super Bowl always ends up being one of the heavy favorites to repeat. Unfortunately back-to-back Super Bowl winners has only happened a handful of times so I do not think the New Orleans Saints will repeat.

Eagles Release Michael Vick?

Earlier this week rumors started to surface that the Philadelphia Eagles have, or are in the process of releasing Michael Vick from their roster for the upcoming NFL season. These latest Michael Vick rumors stem from an altercation a couple of weeks ago outside a restaurant that Vick was celebrating his birthday at. The man shot outside the restaurant is supposedly also Michael Vick’s co-defendant in the dog fighting charges that have sent Vick’s good name to the dogs.

Philadelphia Eagles Predictions

Inside sources have confirmed that the Philadelphia Eagles will make their decision regarding Michael Vick after the police investigation has concluded in the coming month. With Michael Vick out, Kevin Kolb will solidify the #1 starting quarterback position for the Philadelphia Eagles. Kolb, who is only 25 years old, has 4 years of NFL experience playing behind Donovan McNabb and started two regular season games for the Eagles last NFL season. Kolb has a pass rating of 88.9% and is known for being able to throw long bombs. Early NFL predictions have the Eagles barely clinching a playoff spot this upcoming NFL season, and definitely not making it past their first opponent.

Atlanta Falcons Making Moves

It seems like forever since the Atlanta Falcons had a big money player since Michael Vick’s departure, but they are now looking to once again rebuild their NFL team identity.

In this year’s NFL offseason the Falcons drafted 7 key players that may not have big names or big contracts, but they will make a big impact to the Falcons just the same. In addition to some great NFL draft picks, the Falcons will also have the healthy return of key players such as Matt Ryan and Peria Jerry who both suffered injuries last year that prevented them from making a difference for the Falcons roster.

NFL Betting Predictions

Last NFL season the Falcons recorded 9 wins and 7 losses which isn’t that bad of a NFL win/loss record, however considering the Falcons roster you would have expected more from them which is the case again this year. This NFL season my NFL betting prediction is that the Atlanta Falcons will win 11 wins and have 5 losses.
