Detroit Lions’ President in Hot Water

In the above picture Detroit Lion’s President, Tom Lewand, may have just looked drunk, but a week ago when he was caught driving his car under the influence, he was more than just looking drunk and blew well over the legal limit.

I guess you would be drinking that much too if you were in charge of the struggling NFL Detroit Lions franchise.

Detroit Lions Online Betting Picks

Although the Detroit Lions only won 2 NFL regular season games last NFL season, this upcoming NFL season they have made major improvements to their defensive roster in signing Louis Delmas and Kyle Vanden Bosch who have built their reputation on having a strong work ethic and great leadership skills.

Currently some of the best online sportsbooks have the Detroit Lions at +10000 betting odds to win the 2011 Super Bowl which doesn’t sound too promising if you bet on the Lions. This means if you bet $100 on the Detroit Lions to win the NFL Super Bowl, you will make $10,000. You can bet online for the 2011 Super Bowl at the Bodog online sportsbook today!

Donovan McNabb Readies for NFL Season

The question on the minds of NFL online betting players everywhere is, “Can Donovan McNabb do for Santana Moss, what Brett Favre did for Sidney Rice last NFL season?”

That’s what coach Mike Shanahan of the Washington Redskins is hoping and only time will tell if Shanahan, McNabb and Moss can come together this upcoming NFL season and put their NFL critics at rest.

Washington Redskins NFL Preview

This upcoming NFL season for the Washington Redskins has a lot of new faces trying to make a name for themselves in Washington, forgetting old playbooks for new ones, and befriending new teammates. For McNabb and Shanahan, this NFL season is going to be similar to their first day of high school and they just better hope they don’t get locked into a locker this time around!

A lot of online sportsbooks are betting that the Redskins will win at least 4-5 more NFL games than last year with the new moves which I believe to be a very reasonable NFL pick to bet on.

NY Jets’ Revis Looking Forward to NFL Season

The New York Jets’ Darrelle Revis is entering his 4th NFL betting season as a cornerback for the New York Jets and NFL fans are once again looking forward to Revis breaking league records and holding opponents to only running plays. They say that two thirds of the world is covered by water, the rest is covered by Revis when he’s playing cornerback!

Although Revis is no Chuck Norris, he and the Jets’ defense did hold opponents to a league low 252 passing yards per game which makes him a force to be reckoned with.

New York Jets Upcoming NFL Season

While all the media attention is being focused on Mark Sanchez and the rest of the Jets’ offence, coaches and professional sports betting handicappers know that the Jets' defense led by Revis are the true reason why the Jets did so well last year. Revis will need to continue carrying the Jets’ defense on his back this year if they want to go far into the NFL playoffs.

Michael Vick Does It Again

Maybe this time there was no dog fighting involved, but Michael Vick has managed to get himself in trouble again!

Just a couple of days ago, Philadelphia Eagles 2010-2011 NFL Season starting quarterback, Michael Vick, celebrated his 30th birthday at a restaurant with his 15-man entourage. Video surveillance confirms that just 3 minutes after Vick and his entourage left the restaurant, a shooting occurred which injured Vick’s cousin. Of course Vick has denied being involved, but he has committed perjury before so who can believe the boy who cried wolf.

Philadelphia Eagles Upcoming NFL Season

Now that Donovan McNabb, the former face of the Philadelphia Eagles organization for over 10 years, has been traded to the Washington Redskins, the Eagles are left with a quarterback in Michael Vick that is a magnet for trouble, doesn’t do half as much as the community work McNabb did, and Vick does not command the same respect McNabb did in the Eagles locker room. Does this mean trouble for the Eagles upcoming NFL betting season? Only time will tell but early signs are pointing to betting against the Eagles this upcoming NFL betting season.

Carolina Panthers’ Steve Smith Breaks Arm

The Carolina Panthers’ starting wide receiver, Steve Smith, broke his arm last week and to the surprise of NFL fans everywhere, the arm breaking incident had nothing to do with a strip club, gun incident or ex-wife. Smith, who previously broke his arm for the first time at the end of last NFL season in a game, broke it in a different spot this time while playing flag football at the YMCA. Just to reiterate, Smith was playing flag football at the YMCA, not doing the YMCA with a flag.

NFL Quarterback Matchups

This upcoming NFL season has a lot of unanswered questions at the quarterback and wide receiver position for many NFL teams. The Raiders, Panthers and Broncos all have gigantic question marks surrounding their #1 starting quarterback and wide receiver positions.

Since I’m an online betting man, I’ll share my NFL predictions for starting quarterbacks and wide receivers for this upcoming NFL season.

I think the following quarterbacks and wide receiver will be starting for their respective teams and I would bet that they have stellar NFL seasons.

Jason Campbell (Quarterback) – Oakland Raiders

Steve Smith (Wide Receiver) – Carolina Panthers

Tim Teebow (Quarterback) – Denver Broncos

Vikings’ Adrian Peterson Causing a Ruckus

Last week at a Minnesota Vikings minicamp, the rumors were a plenty as Vikings Superstar, Adrian Peterson, was absent from NFL minicamp practices. Granted this was just a NFL minicamp and not a regular season NFL practice, Vikings staff and critics were still upset with Peterson’s absence all the same.
Where was Peterson you might be asking?
Well let me tell you. Peterson was absent from NFL minicamp because he decided to go back to his hometown for a parade, and no it was not a gay pride parade or a parade held in his honor. Many rumors have been speculating that Peterson skipped out on practice because Brett Favre, Vikings geriatric quarterback, who was given the option to skip practices because of his old age and Peterson was jealous of the favoritism shown to Favre. Another rumor is that Peterson skipped practice because of a current contract dispute between him and the Vikings.

Vikings NFL Online Preview

Regardless of what Peterson’s excuse was for skipping practice, he is back at minicamp now and says that the whole situation “is over” and everything is back to business. In many online Vikings’ previews for this upcoming NFL season many online sports betting handicappers are predicting that Favre, Peterson and the rest of the Vikings are going to flop this upcoming NFL season and that last year’s run was just a fluke.

I would take that bet any day as I too think the Vikings are going to be more of a bust than Pamela Anderson this season. Bet against the Vikings this NFL season!

Peyton Manning’s NFL Future

How long will Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts be able to hold off their opponents in the NFL this upcoming season after putting together multiple winning seasons? Many experts believe that Colts have peaked and this may be the year that you start to notice.

Peyton Manning is a 4 time MVP and has won the Super Bowl once, but in recent memory he has only been able to get close to the promise land, but has not been able to win entry into it.

Upcoming NFL Betting Predictions

With only minimal changes in the Colts organization since last NFL season, and Peyton Manning escaping last NFL season relatively unscathed, Colts betting odds on repeating another winning season look very promising to me. Currently the Bodog online sportsbook has the Colts favored 13:2 to win the 2011 Super Bowl which I think is a great online bet to make. If you have a few extra bucks, I would bet $50 online that the Colts are going to win the Super Bowl and at $13 for every $2 I bet, I would win $325.00 plus get my risk amount of $50 back. Those are some great betting odds if you ask me!

Jason Campbell Readies for Upcoming NFL Season

Not even Jason Campbell will be able to hide behind his blanky this NFL season as all eyes will be focused on Al Davis and the Oakland Raiders organization after some suspect moves made during the offseason.

Now that Oakland Raiders’ President, Al Davis, has signed Jason Campbell from the Redskins, it clearly takes away some of the bad taste that the Raiders were left with in the Quarterback position which was previously occupied by Jamarcus Russell.

NFL Picks & Predictions

In Jason Campbell’s first two NFL seasons of heading the Washington Redskin’s offence, he averaged 16.6 points per game whereas his new team, the Oakland Raiders, have only averaged a miniscule 12 points per regular season NFL game over the last few seasons.

Many online sportsbooks picks and predictions have Campbell and the new Raiders winning at least 3-4 more games this NFL season than they did last year with Campbell at the helm. Campbell is hardly a miracle worker, but I do predict him to be able to win a few extra NFL games this season for the Raiders. If you’re looking for an online sportsbook for NFL betting, check out the Bodog online sportsbook and you can put your money behind Campbell and the Raiders this NFL season just like I am going too!

Tebow Readies for Upcoming NFL Season

Yes, here comes another post about soon to be rookie sensation, Tim Tebow. It’s not that I have a man crush on this beast of a man; it’s just that his blue collar attitude and unprecedented work ethic has won the respect of his Bronco teammates and NFL fans alike.

Although Tim Tebow has yet to play an NFL game and is currently the 3rd quarterback on the Denver Broncos behind Kyle Orton and Brady Quinn, he is getting a lot of attention from the media and from players around the NFL.

NFL Picks and Predictions

Many NFL football experts are predicting that Tim Tebow will take over the starting position for the Denver Broncos, forcing the Broncos to trade either Orton or Quinn.
Champ Bailey, the Broncos Defensive Captain is extremely impressed by Tebow’s work ethic and has full confidence in his rookie NFL quarterback quoting, “He routinely leads the team in practice sprints and he is always the last one off the field after practices. He works just as hard on the field as he does in the classroom learning our playbook.”

It’s rare in the NFL where a teammate is actually praising their quarterback, instead of blaming him. The NFL season has yet to start, but I would bet on the Broncos to put up a few more wins this NFL season than last season.

NFL Philadelphia Eagles News

Maybe Kevin Kolb does not have the face or demeanor of a starting NFL quarterback like Donovan McNabb had for the Eagles, but Kolb will have to do for the Philadelphia Eagles this year which may not be such a bad thing.

After NFL 3 seasons of backing up Donovan McNabb and then being demoted to being a 3rd string quarterback when the Eagles signed Michael Vick last year, Kolb could not picture or even dream of what was going to happen.

NFL Online Betting

With at least some of the distractions out of the picture in Philadelphia, Kolb finally has an opportunity to show Eagles and NFL fans everywhere why he was drafted into the NFL. When betting online against teams that have a bad pass-rush defense this upcoming NFL season, betting odds may be slightly skewed in the favor of Kolb and the Eagles based on his strong and highly accurate arm. Take the Eagles on the point spread whenever they are favored by at least 3 or more points this NFL season.

NFL Sophomore Jinx

As we have seen time and time again, young NFL players struggle to get over their sophomore slump/hump and will the class of 2009, Michael Crabtree and Darrius Heyward-Bey, be any different?

For Michael Crabtree, Wide Receiver for the San Francisco 49ers, you could argue that he is still in his rookie season considering he was a holdout for the first 6 games of last NFL season with the 49ers. The 49ers organization and fans are banking on Crabtree, $32 Million / 6 year contract, to help get them into the playoffs in the upcoming 2010-11 NFL Season.

Darrius Heyward-Bey, Wide Receiver for the Oakland Raiders, has been hiding in the shadows at Raiders practices since all the media attention has been focused on the Raiders QB problems. For Heyward-Bey, he had a decent rookie season last year, starting 11 games for the Raiders so look for him to have a much better sophomore season.

NFL Season Picks

Amongst all the big rookie contracts from last season, I’m only picking Crabtree to really show a positive return on investment for this upcoming NFL season. There really aren’t any bets that have odds on NFL sophomore jinxes, but you can bet on the 49ers to win a lot of games this NFL season with major help coming from Michael Crabtree.

NFL’s Isaac Bruce Retires

From once having his own action figure, to now looking forward to appearing in Preparation H and Slim Fast commercials, St. Louis Rams record breaking wide receiver, Isaac Bruce, has announced his retirement from the glitz and glamour that is the NFL.

After playing in the NFL for nearly 15 years, Bruce had 4 NFL Pro Bowl selections to go along with his impressive stats:

* 1024 Receptions
* 15208 Receiving Yards
* 91 Touchdowns

NFL Online Betting News

Although Bruce will technically retire a St. Louis Ram, his last ever NFL game was played as a San Francisco 49er. Last season with the 49ers Bruce had limited playing time with most of the attention being focused on rookie sensation, Michael Crabtree. Like we previously mentioned, the 49ers offense has been cleaning house this offseason and come NFL kickoff time, they are going to be a force to be reckoned with in the NFC conference of the NFL.

You can bet online that a lot of 49ers games this NFL season will be decided by their offense, not their defense. Currently the Bodog online sportsbook has the 49ers favored as 35/1 betting odds favorites to win the NFL Super Bowl which I think are pretty great odds.

Super Bowl Champions

After winning the 2009-10 NFL Super Bowl, the New Orleans Saints are looking for a second go at it and are making some moves to be a better and stronger team for this upcoming NFL season. Only seven teams have won back to back Super Bowls in the NFL, and the Pittsburgh Steelers have done it twice. The New Orleans Saints are also looking to make this exclusive list but they have to take it one game at a time, just like we have to take our online bets one bet at a time. If you have a bad Sunday, don’t think you have to make up your losses all on the Monday night football game!

Online Betting Strategies

Many online betting players have different strategies on which NFL teams to bet on, some weird and most ridiculous. I myself go with the tried and tested online betting strategy which mostly just looks at the history of the two NFL teams playing.

For example, the Saints won the Super Bowl last season, officially making them the best team in the NFL. The Saints pretty much have the same lineup this season, with the exception of first round draft pick Malcolm Jenkins who is a cornerback by nature, but will be playing safety this season so that he can crack the Steelers starting lineup. With these minor, but improving changes, the Saints are looking unbeatable again this season so unless the team your betting on beat the Saints last season, I would bet on the Saints to beat them again this season.

New York Jets 2010-11 NFL Season

With the exceptional play of dirty Mark Sanchez in his debut NFL rookie season last year, you would think that this NFL season the New York Jets would be on the right path to win some games. The New York Jets were able to successfully rebound from the Brett Favre debacle a couple of NFL seasons ago, but now they seem to be facing some new challenges with Vernon Gholston.

New York Jets Move Vernon Gholston

Although the New York Jets have not cut or traded Vernon Gholston, a former 6th pick overall draft pick, the Jets have moved him from offensive linebacker to a defensive end. Gholston was drafted into the New York Jets organization to be a NFL playmaker however things did not work out the way anyone planned. Now with a second crack at the NFL, Gholston has a chance to solidify his spot in the NFL with the Jets. As seen in the above picture, he has the muscles to do it, but does he have the right attitude? Only time will tell if Gholston will be worth betting on.

Ben Roethlisberger Breaks His Silence

In the above picture Ben Roethlisberger is not judging a contest to see who has the best microphone, however it is the first time he has spoken with the media since his sexual transgressions. I’m getting sick of writing about the Ben Roethlisberger saga, and I’m sure you guys are getting sick of reading it so moving forward this will be the last time we talk about it, unless of course there is nothing else to talk about!

NFL Online Betting News

Ben Roethlisberger’s publicist has just recently announced that Ben will not be sharing his side of the story with reporters after practices, after games, or in any press conferences this year, but he does want to tell his side of the story on a grand scale in front of a larger audience.

Rumors have recently been speculated that Roethlisberger will be telling his story on either Larry King Live or the Oprah Show. As much as I love NFL news stories, I’m not sure how many NFL football fans are going to be interested in watching Roethlisberger shedding tears on the Oprah Show in between commercial breaks for tampons and women’s deodorant. Unless Oprah is giving out NFL betting odds or betting picks, you can count me out.

Dallas Cowboys 2010-11 NFL Season

For a team whose owner gets more television coverage than most players on his team, you might think that Jerry Jones would be the main cause for a lot of confusion and distraction in the locker room, and you would be right. Jerry Jones is an NFL owner that is as hands-on as they come. Jerry Jones decides who starts and who does not for the Cowboys, and that has gotten Marion Barber fans a bit upset.

Marion Barber’s NFL Future

Earlier this spring the Dallas Cowboys owner, Jerry Jones, announced that Felix Jones (no relation) would have the #1 starting running back position for the Dallas Cowboys. A few weeks after that Jerry Jones changed his decision and stated that Marion Barber would be able to regain his rightful position as the Cowboys starting running back. Now as of a few days ago, Jerry Jones has gone back to Felix Jones for the #1 running back spot. It’s a game of musical chairs in the Cowboys camp.

Marion Barber is a talented and incredibly tough player and if the Dallas Cowboys cannot guarantee him the #1 spot, I wouldn’t be surprised if another NFL team comes knocking on Jerry Jones’s door, you can bet on it!

Big Ben Back in Pittsburg

Big Ben Roethlisberger is taking a little break from doing belly shots to focus his attention on his NFL career. Although Ben will miss the first 6 weeks of this year’s NFL regular season due to his league enforced suspension, he is still allowed to attend the Pittsburgh Steelers training camp which is good news if you are a Steelers football betting fan.

Ben Roethlisberger Betting

For the second day in a row, Ben Roethlisberger refused to speak to the media which makes sense because at this point there isn’t anything he can say to them and Roethlisberger just has to let his play on the NFL field do the talking. Unfortunately if you enjoy betting online in favor of the Pittsburgh Steelers, you might want to bet against them for at least the first 6 weeks of this NFL betting season. Although the Pittsburgh Steelers are more than just a one quarterback team, it is the confidence and leadership that Roethlisberger brings that inspires Coach Tomlin and the rest of the Steelers.

Our NFL betting prescription; wait at least 5-6 weeks before you bet online for or against the Steelers.
